Forensic Neuropsychological Evaluation is...

...conducted to determine the effects of a specific event or condition on cognitive functioning.  Accidents resulting in brain injury, as well as other disorders that affect the brain, may be the focus of such an evaluation.  This type of evaluation is different than a clinical evaluation in that the primary purpose of a forensic evaluation is to gather information to be used in a legal proceeding.  This may be an Independent Medical Evaluation, Disability Determination, or Personal Injury matter.  These evaluations contain different measures than clinical or educational evaluations, and it is important to discuss with the neuropsychologist the purpose of your evaluation prior to testing.  Evaluations ordered by the court, or for the purpose of providing information in a legal proceeding, are typically not covered by health insurance policies.
